A PLACE FOR ALL MY TCHOTCHKES
Jason and I have been living in our ‘new’ place for 6 months now, but it wasn’t until we installed our new custom made wall unit yesterday that I felt totally moved in. I had a blast styling it, although Jason and my girlfriend, Sole gave me a lot of shit for all of my “tchotchkes” to which I had to explain the difference between collectors vs. hoarders. Nonetheless, I am thrilled with the outcome and the unit grounds the space and makes it feel much more like ours. I know I’ll have fun rotating and rearranging all my crap, like every week, on it. What do you think about tchotchkes? Do you display your thrifty finds, or do you prefer a more minimal approach?

This unit is gorgeous! I’ve actually been thinking that I need something similar to display all my stuff. It’s all over the house and needs a central (and stylish) location

how did you “custom design” this? I’d love to have shelving like this in my living room.
@Laura– there is a shop near my home in Silverlake where they sell vintage items, and they custom make things from wood to look however you like– we we took measurements, explained what we wanted, picked the type of wood out and sent him a photo of something similar– in 3 weeks we had our custom unit built!
I love displaying all and every. I think it’s so fun to walk into a house and have so many great things to look at! there is a fine line between “wow” and “what?!” but that’s the fun part…
