Compai has authored and designed four popular books on how to make your own clothing and accessories from recycled materials. Designed to be a conceptual tool for designers and creatives, the books not only have step-by-step instructions for over 300 styles, but inspire readers to look at disposable objects in a new way!Craft meets fashion design in the "99 Ways" series where Compai suggests easy, fashionable ways to upcycle your wardrobe and give new life to old clothing.
"99 ways to Cut, Sew, Trim and Tie your T-shirt into Something Special" (Potter Craft, 2006) describes 99 clever ways to cut up your T-shirt to create new styles while recycling and saving cash along the way. Our second book "99 Ways to Cut, Sew, And Deck out Your Denim" (Potter Craft, 2007) boasts 99 projects--from sundresses to skinny jeans to make from a pair of old jeans.
We only broke 14 needles in the making of this book.
Our third book, "99 Ways to Cut, Sew, Tie and Rock your Scarf" (Potter Craft, 2008) features projects to make from scarves: from sundresses to simple hair wraps the book provides step-by-step instructions to cut, sew or tie your scarf into a one-of-a-kind creation.
Our Latest tome, "Refashioned Bags, How to Upcycle Anything into a High Style Handbag" (Potter Craft, 2009) contains 25 bags -from clutches to backpacks- to refashion from all kinds of household items that may otherwise be destined for the landfill. We create all designs, illustrations, layout and clothing items themselves, in true, DIY fashion.
The "99 Ways" Series and Refashioned Bags has brought the recycled clothing movement to an international audience. With over 100,000 copies in circulation and people from LA to Tokyo sporting their own Compai designs, the books continue to inspire people all over the world to recycle their wardrobes!
