The Jungalow is the small 600 Square foot apartment in Los Feliz, Los Angeles where I (Justina) currently reside with my man and our cat, Luda. I've decorated the space with 90% reclaimed materials with a $700 budget.
Many items were found curbside in my neighborhood and transformed into functional objects of design like my crib-piece turned magazine rack and my green couch. Other things, like the banana leaf wallpaper, the pom pom lamp, mirrors, artwork, and fabrics I (often with the additional eyes of my sis, Faith) found at markets and thrift shops around the globe.
Then there is the occasional item from boutiques, crafters, and yes, Anthropologie, like my recycled paper machier animal heads.
Out back in the small ally-way, where we keep our bikes, we have begun a vertical garden project. We work to get greener and greener, and more and more jungalow-y every day.
My apartment is featured in Apartment Therapy's Big Book of Small, Cool, Spaces by
And the Jungalow has also been featured in Venus Zine where I go through the process of decorating my apartment on a $700 budget.
