Perhaps even crazier than visiting over 100 shops in London in Just under 5 days is doing it with NO internet and NO cell phone. So– I’m sorry for keeping you waiting, dear readers, but it’s been quite a whirlwind, and I have been “off the grid” since last Sunday– gotta be some kind of record for me!
So, I just missed my flight to Zurich, so that gives me a chance to gather a few thoughts and even squeeze in a blog post! Except for getting to the Gatwick airport from downtown London (which is an odd form of torture that I wouldn’t wish upon anyone) LONDON IS STUNNING.
In London they have cute and funny names for everything, from Cockfosters to Pickadilly Circus– Londoners may have a serious reputation but all these names had to have been invented by someone with a serious sense of humor.
I was lucky enough to stay in a beautiful flat just across from the Victoria Albert Museum. My gracious, stylish, talented host was Beatrix Aruna Pasztor, a prolific costume designer who designed costumes for some of my favorite flicks including Good Will Hunting, Even Cowgirls Get the blues, and My Own Private Idaho, among many, many, many others. (THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING BEATRIX!) My partner in crime on this journey of inspiration was the lovely Vanessa Vogel (yes, the mastermind behind Park Vogel T-shirts- the softest and most stylish organic T’s out there.) We really exhausted ourselves hitting up every single boutique, bottega and market that London has to offer.
So– London is stunning. Yes– its a place that has really got a lot of style. I got a chance to quickly hit up the Tate and the Victoria Albert museum, and go to about 100 shops in every quarter of London, including Carnaby Street, Brick Lane, Notting Hill– and just about everywhere in between. Over the next couple of weeks I will be posting some of my favorite shops and best finds, but in the mean time I just wanted to drop y’all a line to let you know that all is wonderful and I do feel very inspired. Collages above from the first 3 days (graphics, food & Textures–click images for larger view)!
Food, Design,Fashion- Oh my!
More from Switzerland tomorrow,
better go before I miss my flight (again!)
xoxo
