Our Offish (our ocean-inspired studio space) is finally starting to come together.
This week, we are going to show you how we made our ‘scale’ wall.
Step 1
Cut out a piece of cardboard in the shape of a fish scale.
Select various colors of felt and use your cardboard fish scale to cut out felt fish
scales. We required around 250 scales for our wall (8 yards of felt).
Step 2
Measure the length and width of your wall. You can make 1 panel with those
dimensions or multiple panels to place your scales on. We decided to make 4
panels because it seemed easier to manipulate.
To make each panel: cut out a piece of craft paper that matches the dimension
of the wall. Enforce the top and bottom of the paper with pieces of cardboard.
Step 3
If you have light sockets or lamps on the wall (as we did) cut the shapes out of
your craft paper.
Step 4
Once you have your fish scales and panels ready, begin gluing (with a hot glue
gun) the fish scales onto your panels, overlapping the scales to make a tiered
effect.
Tack or nail the finished panels on the wall. For a finished touch, we added gold
upholstery tacks to the top edge.
