As you probably know, my sis and I spent about 6 years living and working in Italy- it is actually the birthplace of Compai. We go back just about every summer- see old friends and make new discoveries. This time I discovered the new contemporary art museum in Rome- the MAXXI.
It was designed by ridiculously world renowned bad-ass Iranian (FEMALE :) architect Zaha Hadid. I had the honour of getting a behind the scenes tour from one of my greatest old friends in the world Marco Guardincerri, who is a co-conspiring architect on the Zahdid team in Rome (go Marco!! e vai!).
I new I had struck gold when I came across this piece by one of my favorite artists of the moment; Yinka Shonibare ! I had to take these pics for you guys, despite the fact that it was not allowed- can you blame me? I felt like James Bond as I turned corners to hide from ever present and oh so abundant (but totally distracted- in typical Italian fashion) security guards. Ah, Italia io ti adoro! (Italy, I adore you!)
