Hey all!
I am SO EXCITED to share with you the first installment of STYLE.PLAY.WORK.SHOP!
STYLE.PLAY.WORK.SHOP. is a styling workshop created by Compai and the design blog Minted Condition. Designed to be a playground for stylists and bloggers, we pick specific household objects to photograph into a still life for each round. Each still life image is then placed together to compare different styling and photographic styles and ideas.
For this 1st round, we chose to work with: eggs, flowers, notebooks, teacups and fabric.
The STYLE.PLAY.WORK.SHOP. is all about playing with styling, learning more about color, perspective, depth and relationships of objects, and learning how to tell a story with an image.
My “Story” is about the chicken and the egg. What do you think?

If you’d like to participate in the next round of STYLE.PLAY.WORK.SHOP. and style your own photoshoot, leave a comment here or on the Minted Condition blog. We will send you and invite to join the Style.Play.Work.Shop flickr group and from there, you do your photoshoot and upload the pictures to the flickr group, and we will feature our favorite shots together with our own images for next month’s edition.
Next Deadline: Tuesday, November 2nd.

What did you do to become a stylist? I’m dyin to get where y’all are. But it seems so complicated for me.
This is a great place to start! Taking pictures even with things that you may have lying around your home, and making them look beautiful, is awesome practice- also, assisting and interning with stylists that are already established is another more traditional route. Try getting together with creative friends, photographers, fashion designers, interior designers and ask to be there to help out on photoshoots— observe was goes on, help out, learn the ropes, be fearless–and join the Style.Play.Work.Shop!
