STYLE.PLAY.WORK.SHOP. is a styling workshop created by Compai and the design blog Minted Condition. Designed to be a playground for stylists, photographers and bloggers, we pick specific household objects to photograph into a still life for each round. (Click here to see Round 1, if you missed it!)
For round 2, we chose to work with a RIBBON, SQUASH, ENVELOPE, JEWELRY & BOTTLES We had 9 people participate in this round, and my top picks from the new members were images by Tonya Moore and Lana Kenney of Lanalou Style.
I love Tonya’s picture because of the sun coming through the umbrella and the contrasting colors of the bottles. Lana’s images are thoughtful, delicate, and I love the color palate (those Poppies? Swoon!).
There were a lot of great images though… some more quirky, some more vintage-y, so check out our flickr group to see all of the images from the previous rounds. Be sure to check out Bekka’s favorites on Minted Condition, too!
A big part of the Style.Play.Work.Shop is getting feedback: see why they are great, or how they could be better, so I comment on at least one image from every entry, I hope you will do the same, so that we can all learn and grow.
Sign up for round 3 of the Style.Play.Work.Shop by leaving a comment below and filling out this form. (The form is new, so if you are already part of the workshop and want to fill out the form, that would be great, too)
HOLIDAY OBJECTS: A WRAPPED GIFT, SOMETHING SPHERICAL (your choice), A COOKIE, A CALENDAR
DEADLINE: Tuesday, December 7th.
(Want to post images from Style.Play.Work.Shop #2 on your blog? Everything you need is right here, in our flickr group. Please link back to Bekka or Compai in your post and let us know about it, because we’d love to check it out!)
Style on!

I clearly need some more practice in styling, but I loved doing this exercise, so that’s all that matters!
I was planning on writing a post for it this Friday, so I will keep you posted.
And thanks for that lovely comment on my photo!

Thanks Justina, this was such fun! Great to see how everyone interpreted the same theme in such different ways!

Fun to see all the entries together! So many different takes on this. I too could use the practice. I blogged about this here: http://describehappy.blogspot.com/2010/11/styleplayworkshop-round-ii.html

I just heard about this Styling Challenge from Shannon’s post today on WhatsUpWhimsy.com and I am so glad I stopped by to check it out! What a great idea, Justina. I would love to participate in the next one if I can get organized enough to do so – seems like this workshop will take me back to my university days when still photography was one of my studio courses :)
Great idea and great blog, I look forward to coming back here often!
