Between writing my thesis, I’ve been taking breaks and making goofy broaches out of old children’s books (rather the illustrations inside them), ducktape, and whatever else seems to be close by that I can up-cycle into my “junk jewelry”. It’s been a nice little way to keep me sane as I finish up the paper. BTW – Love the sugar molds…AND Compai!!!

Done! Justina, I love what you’ve done with the sugar molds. I live in Pasadena and have never done the Rose Bowl / PCC flea markets, but your thrifty finds totally make me want to check them out sometime!
This year I’m turning felted wool and cashmere sweaters into Christmas ornaments. Teaching a workshop on them in 2 days; wish me luck!

this year I’ve upcycled an old armoire from the streets of Brooklyn and just acquired a lovely wicker Pier 1 Imports chair that I need to make a cushion for. I’m currently looking for pallets and apple boxes/wooden crates…due to your post the other day on these things. I have a shabby chic alter ego:)

Ahhh! What a lovely giveaway! Please count me in. I recently rescued and restored an antique picture frame, had it cleaned and polished and it now holds a beautiful rose-colored sari remnant that belonged to my MIL. It looks like a painting and I’m very pleased with how it turned out!

Just got here from Kamini’s blog. This is such a beautiful polka dotted sugar mold. I put away old glass bottles and make them into pretty giveaways for friends. For Xmas, I have been decorating them with pretty bows, and placing them around the home with candles.
I also love to rescue antique throwaways, spruce them up and use them around the house. My fav so far is a beautiful frame!
Lovely blog, and I have just become a follower!

This giveaway is given away tomorrow…I’m going to slot in another vote for myself here (pick me, pick ME) and remind you that I upcycled a bunch of old ribbon (found on the packaging of christmas ornaments) and sea shells and made some of my own Tropical Holiday decor items. Can I just say what a relief to find someone who truly knows what they’re talking about on the web. You definitely know how to bring a problem to light and make it important. More people need to look at this and understand this side of the story. I can’t
believe you aren’t more popular since you definitely possess the gift.
