I was in the Bay Area last weekend and got a chance to spend some time at the home that my great friend Caitlin Levin grew up in. I should have known her mother and father would have fabulous taste- as Caitlin does. Her mother had 2 collections in particular that made me absolutely swoon. The first was a collection of old nests that she has found in trees, and fallen on the ground while hiking. The next is sprouting onion bulbs in charming little vintage vases and then their big flowering counterparts in growing in glass planters. Do any of you remember sprouting potatoes that hung from tooth picks in dixie cups as a kids? This is the sexy DIY adult version of that project. Enjoy!

How unique to have a collection of birds nests! Those onions look sensational, and yes I remember having potatoes sprout. Sometimes I find some in the pantry doing the same thing! :)
