Welcome to a brand new installment on the blog! The installment is all about original pattern designs– you know how I feel about patterns.
The new feature will highlight a new pattern that I have designed every week. I take one original pattern design and apply it to home decor and/or fashion goods to explore the pattern in different colors, scales and on different surfaces. I’m really excited about this because, for one, I’m trying hard to generate original content for the blog and aim to (in general) spend more time creating than I do scouring… so I’m hoping that the Pattern Play will help keep me on track with that goal.
I can’t wait to hear your feedback on which colors, scales and which surfaces the patterns look best on. I really want to hear you honest opinions about what’s working, and what isn’t working. With your feedback I’ll be able to choose which patterns to use on note-cards and other projects… and maybe one day– a product line!?! wouldn’t that be nice ;-)
So this is the first pattern, called Folgie Folly (Folgie means leaves in Italian). I’m digging the way it looks in the original color scheme (in the pink, turquoise and grey in the fabric swatch) but I also really like the monochrome version on the (formally white) sattee. Your thoughts?

Love it, Justina! I’m looking forward to this new series – I love patterns and I’m sure you will create some gorgeous ones. I like this particular pattern too, it’s the perfect mix of botanical imagery. My favourite colour combination is the small swatch at the top of the post with the cool colours. The colours are still so saturated and inviting without being too neon (Although I love the neon aspect of the purple, pink and bright green swatch too).
LOVE IT!

This new series is amazing Justina!! I have to say I love all options and colourways, but if I had to choose, I really love the gray and white version on the settee!

What a great idea for a series. I can’t wait to see more! I love the colors in the blue & green swatch near the top. It would be a beautiful fabric pattern.
