First off, Happy V day folks. Hope you have all of your love forts ready (both metaphorical and literal). Not sure I’ll have too much time to stop and smell the roses today, between taking carloads to the new house and the loads of design work that I have to do– but at least my boyfriend and I are doing it together… Anyways, I am wishing you all the best today, whether you’re spending today with a hubby, a wifey, a homie a BF a GF or a BFF, I hope it’s not stressful and just really full of love and happiness.
Soooo, on to a different subject that encompasses my true love affair with the Rose Bowl Flea Market.
OK– let me just first say that yesterday was a GORGEOUS day in L.A. I mean, if this is February, I’ll take it. Seriously. 80 Degrees, little breeze, lots of sunshine…. blew my mind. And, if you’re an LA flea market junkie like I am, you know that week after week you encounter the same vendors with the same stuff. Well, yesterday was different. There seemed to be quite a few new vendors, as well as regular vendors who had new stuff– and better prices( the Rose Bowl can sometimes flaunt boutique prices).
OK- so one of the first things that caught my eye was the little mannequin (upper left). I was shocked to see her because (and my mother who was there with me this week agreed) she looked an awful lot like a 12 year old me, and it kinda tripped me out.
Other items that I loved but left this week were a slew of mid-century modern and Danish Modern furniture (like the wooden table with the white pedestal) mixed in with ethnic pieces like the jaw-dropping (and very pricey) Moroccan Wedding Blankets. Maybe if I ever get married I’ll register at the flea market and ask for one of these! (Wouldn’t it be cool if one could do a Flea Market Wedding Registry? So much more fun than going to the mall, huh?)
I also fell in love with these paper pots that were made out of newspaper. They were even priced well at at $20 a piece, but they were a little too tattered (even for me.)
I did come home with quite a few goodies, my love bugs (who were the stars of yesterday’s post) and some cool 1960’s cups made of some kind of plastic and Rattan– they’re too cute. I came home with a few more things that I will be sharing soon including a new-to-me rug for the new pad, and couple of cool books and a very pretty necklace.
OK– time for me to pack a few more boxes, design a logo and have a little coffee.
Hugs and kisses to all my love bugs.
Wasn’t it a gorgeous weekend here in LA? Actually, it’s been pretty nice for like ever. I stopped by the good ‘ol Rose Bowl too. We must’ve brushed elbows or shoulders or even wiped sweat off each other! Looks like you found some goodies. I love the paper pots! Can’t wait to see your other goodie finds. Sounds like you’re a busy bee. Take it easy, Justina!
We’ll have to meet up at the lemonade stand next time and say What’s Up face to face!! And– do you know about the Compai Creative Pot Luck this weekend? you should really come so we can meet!
I am in love with that headboard! I have one of those milk container thingies but no bottles. On the hunt for those soon. Missing Cali a bit tonight!
I saw your love fort on design sponge- it is beautiful. So glad I found your blog too. Happy days x
I MUST make it to the Rosebowl one day…
