Kind of weird juxtaposition, huh…the colossal Olmec stonework and European fashions from 1700-1915 at the LACMA? I was blown away by both exhibits, and to see them side by side made the whole experience even crazier and more inspiring. From the minute detail and dainty frills of antique couture to the dimensions, weight and power of the Olmec works, I found myself weaving between the two exhibits marveling over each, comparing the architectural and structural similarities and the overwhelming textural differences.
One thing I do appreciate about living in a bustling city like L.A. is the opportunity to get out and go to museums and galleries often. It’s so important to remember that blogs are truly amazing, but nothing is more inspiring than going outside and getting offline inspiration.
While the Olmec Exhibit is now over, the Fashion exhibit is on view until March 27, worth a visit!
And speaking of this city that I call home, my man and I just signed a lease on a new home in the heart of it all- Downtown L.A. (we will be walking distance from the MOCA and Disney Music Hall!) I can’t wait to share all of the details with you– and yes, of course, photos, as we decorate and DIY-up our new home. Happy Wednesday, friends– thanks for stopping by!

I love it! The exhibits look very inspiring. So you are leaving the Jungalow?! Crazy. Will your new place have the same theme or are you going to do something different?

I caught both of those exhibit while back in L.A. over the holidays!! Your pictures are a great recap and bring the experience right back to me! How awesome would it be to parade around L.A. in one of those extraordinary outfits!! Breathtaking. I am kicking myself now for having not taken any pictures! Thanks for this post!

hadley: yes, I’m leaving the Jungalow! I’m still deciding if my new place will have a ‘theme’ although with the jungalow, the name Junagalow was bestowed upon the place after I had already decorated it– I did not decorate with a theme in mind.. So, we’ll see how this next place pans out!
Corina: Welcome to the blog, and thank you so much for stopping by. I love the idea of parading around LA in on of those ‘fits– only problem was they were all about a size zero!!
