I was in Silverlake last week when I came across these branches. I have never seen these green, spiky pompom-like plants before and was pretty excited. As some of you may know, I love pom poms– Billy Balls are some of my favorite flowers and I even have a whole pinboard dedicated to pompoms on Pinterest– I feel like they add fun, whimsy and a ‘worldly’ flair to clothing and decor. I was intrigued to learn that these poms were actually Chestnuts, so they are literally nutcases, which makes me only love them more. I created this little print inspired by them. If I ever become a nutcase, I wanna be a chestnut.

That’s awesome! Your print is lovely.
I love those branches of chestnuts… I didn’t know that they were chestnuts, either. I saw them on my walks when I lived in Silverlake, and didn’t have a clue.
