It just takes one statement piece to transform the whole look and feel of a room. This is the lovely home of one of my clients. While all of the existing pieces in her home looked nice, together–they made no statement. By replacing her metal and glass coffee table with a large wooden antique coffee table from India, her living room became instantly memorable. The table helps to create a different mood in the space; one of travel, discovery and comfort, as contrasted to the metal and glass which is cold and does not provide a visual anchor for the space. Coffee tables make great statement pieces because they are usually floating in the center of the living room and so have the opportunity to become a real focal point.
