One thing that I really like about being a (new) mom is that when I see another woman on the street with a baby, most of the time I have like, 100 things to talk about with them–afterall, we’ve been through a lot and it can be great to hear new perspectives and talk about stuff that my besties–that don’t have kids–might be kinda sick of hearing about. It was in this way that I met Baby Carlotta and her pretty momma in Silverlake a couple of months ago. Come to find out, she’s Swiss and since I speak some Swiss German, I got to practice my Swiss German and chat with her about how much our babies are sleeping, if they’re teething and our birth experiences. (Do you ever chat with perfect strangers about stuff like this?)
Cut to a last week and I’m walking in Silverlake again with Ida. We go to check out the new shop En Soie, Zurich, on Sunset, and there’s Carlotta’s mom again! Coincidentally, En Soie is her shop that she opened recently with her family, and it is really, really fun. We had another nice momma talk sesh while I snapped these pics and we swapped stories about sleep training and what our little ones are eating. The shop houses a quirky combo of gorgeous patternful scarves, really cool gold and gingham pots and vessels and some killer clothes and accessories in pretty prints. The quality (like all things Swiss) is exceptional, while the fun, bright, playful colors seem very L.A. to me. Totally worth a visit!
