Yesterday I went to the Statens Museum for Kunst and besides being overwhelmed by the amount of GREAT art and the want to immediately bust out my paints, I started to notice some of the cool accessories that the subjects of these painting were rocking. (So ‘me’ to notice that of all things. Ha ha. ) Even though most of these works were from the 1700-1800’s, I felt like their accessories looked very current–so much so, that I challenged myself to find current accessories that resembled these details from these centuries-old artworks. I think I did a pretty good job :P –and isn’t it funny how some of these folks even look kinda hipster? Like Can’t you picture Jan Verkade having a cortado at Intelligentsia? Or that homie with the hat at the Roman Osteria having an R2 at Sqirl? Ha ha.

Check out the looks on those faces in the first painting – do they look sneaky/guilty, or what?
They look like they’ve just been ‘papped’.

I noticed the same thing when visiting the archaeological museum here in Crete. There were jewels and accessories of the minoan civilisation (more than 4.000 years ago!) that are super hip and stylish even for these days.
Some things never change, don’t you think?
