This little munchkin is ten-months old today. I snapped these pictures of her at her 10-month doctors exam, as she played with her own reflection for like, fifteen minutes. That’s probably one of her biggest developments this month.
She can sit and play on her own for longer periods of time. Sometimes it only lasts as much as five minutes, but sometimes we get up to twenty minutes of silent concentrated playing. It’s pretty amazing. Other things she’s started doing is feeding herself little finger foods and she’s REALLY good at taking shoes and hats off–pretty much her favorite thing ever.
Even her very favorite shoes (these sweet handmade booties by Happysolez) :
only last a few minutes these days:
She has also started to become a bit wary of people she doesn’t know. But it seems kind of random who she takes to an who she doesn’t. My dear friend caitlin came to town from New York (yes, the one who shares her incredible recipes with us here on the blog) and she went to her as if they had been homies for daaayz.
Sleeping has been about the same, I usually get up about 2x per night to feed her (we are still co-sleeping). But considering our trip to Denmark and jet-lag and everything she is doing super well. This morning her second stretch of sleep was from about 2AM to 7AM — and I definitely can’t complain about that! She was a remarkable traveler. So much so, that both on the way to and from Denmark the people sitting next to us said that our baby was an ‘angel’. I mean, could we be any luckier??
Still no crawling, but scooting pretty good…so good in fact that we’ve had one or two minor tumbles and we have to get used to watching her more carefully when she’s hanging with us on couches and beds and stuff. She is also getting ready to walk (maybe even skipping crawling all together?) and that means that we are starting to think about baby-proofing the house–another reason for the Patio Sale we’re having this weekend. I’m pretty nervous about proofing the house–I have A LOT of stuff. I’m especially worried about that mid-century wall unit we have in the living room. Do you think we need to get rid of it? (I sure hope not).
OK guys, with that–I wish you a happy weekend. I sure hope I get to meet some of you IRL on Sunday at the sale! Victoria and Dabito will be joining forces with me and selling some of their stuff too–I know it’s gonna be a blast!
Booties C/O Happysolez –thanks Katherine! We love them!

I just love her! Those pictures of her looking at herself in the mirror are beautiful especially the one that looks like she’s clutching her imaginary pearls…and that little gap ♥♥♥

So sweet! What a smile–so much joy in the little face!
Noooo-don’t get rid of that midcentury piece. Just anchor it to the wall. It’s pretty simple and cheap. We did it to all the bookshelves and dressers when ours was climbing the furniture and the added bonus now is that nothing will tip in an earthquake.

What a cutie pie! No need to get rid of your wall unit. Just teach her not to climb or pull on it, she’ll get it eventually. If she can’t seem to stay away from it you could try putting up a baby fence around it for a while and then try without it again. Good luck!

I love the way she’s clutching her imaginary pearls! I’m from the South originally. Such a mature Southern lady hand gesture. Love it!

Ida is so sweet! No need to get rid of that unit – it’s already anchored to the wall. Just put padding on those sharp corners – top and bottom. It can be removed later…and you can do something homemade or there are so many options on the market.
She’ll be walking into school before you can blink! Enjoy every moment…

What a little cutie! Our daughters must be the same age, mine just turned 10 months on the 9th. Enjoy that little nugget!

yeah! Ida was born August 7th! Just two days apart!!

Ida is absolutely precious! Two of my children never crawled; both perfected a crazy scooting technique. (One liked scooting so much that she didn’t walk until she was almost two!)
