It’s been over a year that I’ve been a mom now—some parts of my life have returned to their previous state (like my monthly ‘friend’) —other things are as chaotic as ever (like my hair). With all that’s going on, it’s easy to forget to stock my purse with the essentials (like tampons and hair ties)—and if I’m not careful, by the end of the week my hair tends to look something like this. If, like me, you love a good 2-for 1 of essential stuff you were gonna buy anyway– Text ‘KOTEX’ to TARGET (827438) to get a coupon for free Goody hair elastics when you buy U by Kotex at Target. Done and done. Once you get your hair ties, hook yourself up with this super easy hair crown. It’s the perfect ‘do for those busy days where you need your hair outta face (and come on, you know that pony tail is tiiiiiiiired.)
Here’s what you do: First do this:
all the way around your head…then you do this with the rest of your hair:
and wrap it around the front of your head and pin it in back:
and look how cool it looks:
Enjoy—I did! (I left my hair like this for two days after making this tut!)

**This post is created in partnership with U by Kotex. Thank you for your continued support of the brands that hook me up, so I can hook you all up with content that hopefully doesn’t make you keel over in boredom. Also, all thoughts, experiences, photos, words, and kickassness are my own.

Love it! I am going to try this, but I think my hair is too short.
Keep these curly hair tutorials coming!

Love the idea, unfortunately my hair is very fine with a mind of its own and doesn’t look anything as lovely and thick as yours :-( Might find a way around it by “weaving” a scarf into it… :-)

Oh, i was hoping you wouldn’t do this U by Kotex thing. It is tacky and does not suit your readership at all. I am all for talking about womanhood but doing it for the sake of sponsorship is a no-no.
Justina Blakeney says
Hi Lisa thanks for your feedback. I have done several non-sponsored hair-tutorials in the past, all of which my readers have enjoyed, and, in fact asked for additional tutorials. When the opportunity arose to work with UbyKotex I was excited at the challenge of coming up with a new hair tutorial idea to share. This isn’t meant to be one of my ‘talking about womanhood’ posts, it’s meant to be a fun hair tutorial. And, as I mentioned at the bottom of the post, it’s posts like these that make it so that I continue blogging as frequently as I do. I appreciate your support. ~Justina

This is fab! As soon as I take these poetic justice braids out and have the fro rocking again, I’m going to try this…
So fresh! And I love the different colored bands.

Was cool! Yes, life does get back to normal, but it is a different normal, forever ! :)

very cute…just wish my hair was long enough to try this.

Cute! Wish my hair was a long and thick as yours. And I love how your bright lipstick matches the bright hair ties, the colors look lovely against your hair and skin tone.

I love it! I wish I had the patience to grow out my curly hair that long; yours is gorgeous!

I did this for my four-year-old this morning, and it was a huge hit at her preschool! Thanks for the great tutorial.
