We are now two months into our barter. Amanda‘s bedroom is decorated and looking fabulous, and we are just starting on her living room. On my end, I was weighed and measured just today and I am down 15.5 lbs and have lost many, many inches from the different areas of my body–most notably, 4 inches off my chest–and I could not be more proud of myself. It has also been a long time since I have had this much energy and felt this good. I attribute much of my feeling better to having cut out almost all dairy and gluten from my diet. I didn’t even know gluten was bad unless one was allergic–but all I know is that I feel SO much better without it. And on the few occasions where I gave into temptation and had some bread or other wheaty stuff (like nan, pasta, pita and tortillas) I’ve actually felt super weird afterwards. I don’t know if it was psychosomatic, but I don’t care. I’m done with gluten.
As for Amanda’s living room, here is my design concept:
It’s got kind of a relaxing 70’s natural vibe. Lot’s of textures, mellow colors and orange and turquoise accents. I found two matching 70’s textile weaving #thriftingwithjustina last weekend and I’m so glad that Amanda likes them as much as I do. The pedestal table, coffee table , pillows, bench and wishbone chairs are all from World Market (and actually there is a 25% off sale on all furniture going on until tomorrow, which made everything super affordable). The pouf and lamp are from Euro Style Lighting. I love this super 70’s floor lamp version of the lamp too. The rug is from Lulu and Georgia.
I can’t wait to see what the this next month has in store for both my fitness journey, and Amanda’s home!
*Amanda’s home makeover is being created in partnership with World Market. Thank you for your continued support of the brands that I love, and that love me back. Also, all thoughts, experiences, photos, words, and kickassness are my own.
you look fabulous (but you always did!)
You look great and I love the living room concept you have going on. Especially that rug.
you glow, woman!
You are glorious!
Before and after…But feeling great makes all the difference. No?
I gave up gluten and sugar early in 2013 and I can not tell you what a difference it has made. My mental health too.
Cheers to you!
xo
both are looking great
Justina you are such a fabulous example of what dedication to healthy-er living can do! You look fabulous and to hear that you feel fabulous is even better. Love what you’re doing in Amanda’s home, keep it up!!
hi Justina :-)
I’ve been thinking of giving up the gluten and dairy too, just curious but what do you eat for breakfast? That meal would be hardest for me!
Ya, at first breakfast was tough– now most mornings I east scrambled eggs with some kind of veggie (like greens) and an almond-milk latte. It’s yummy!
Damn, girl, you look GREAT!
Love the design concept. Feels very westcoast-ish, if that’s a thing?
You go girl!
I love love love hearing this. Welcome to the gluten-free side of things. I swear – it is a good place to be ;)
Totally impressed with you. You look gorgeous. And who doesn’t want more energy?

You look great and this is so inspiring!
You look so vibrant and happy!! I cut gluten and dairy out of my diet about 6 months ago I too was shocked at my energy levels and the HUGE shift in my ‘relationship’ with food! I eat so much Bobbi’s hummus and Mary’s Gone Crackers, its insane. It can be a hard transition, but is it SOOOO worth it!
Justina, you look like you feel…FABULOUS!
Keep up the great work.
