It’s been a minute (and by a minute I mean a couple years) since a junky Market post–but after yesterday’s trip to the Rose Bowl Flea, I had to share. This time around I felt bored by even the most amazing mid-century stuff–it was stuff from the African continent that got me all excited. Indigo from Mali, bracelets from the Congo and Nigeria that at one time were used as currency. Moroccan floor pillows and the most intricate and colorful Yoruba beaded chairs and hats. Some textiles came home with me….stay tuned…

You’ve just inspired me to go to the second hand market here in Kunming again as soon as it stops raining…

I would LOVE to go to the Rose Bowl Flea. I have been to many of the east coast shows, but I hear such incredible things about the Rose Bowl. And your post makes me confirm my suspicions. Drool-worthy, spend-all-your-money kind of place indeed!

Hey Justina!!! I love love love your blog :) I see that you’ve posted this a year ago – but I’m still obsessing over those Yoruba chairs (one year later…)!!!! I’m just wondering how much they were being sold for, and if they would probably still be there… I’m from New York and found two here at Oroboro for $1800 each. Do you think their worth the price?

” I’m just wondering how much they were being sold for, and if they would probably still be there” I’m also wondering how much it costs compared to my income.
