Have you begun to notice watercolors galore in your Instagram feed? Well my friend Elise recently pointed me to the Waterlogue app. It turns regular old photos into pretty amazing looking ‘watercolors’ in a matter of seconds. I especially love the way interiors look waterlogued so I did a few examples from my interior design work.
They have different ‘filters’ like VSCO and IG to change the look/colors and strokes of the watercolor.
Watch out y’all this is another addicting application. Before you know it you’re watercoloring everything.
The Waterlogues look so good, I could see how artists would be turned off by the app the same way that I think photographers were at-first turned off by Instagram–and how it turned everyone into a ‘photographer’– but I think that this app could actually have a lot of creative applications as well and, just like the Instagram filters, you have to have a good eye and good composition skills to create something that looks good. Of course it does not require the same amount of skill (nor is it as fun or therapeutic) as really painting, but it’s a cool little tool to mess around with. Have you tried the Waterlogue app? What do you think?

I really like the idea of this. My mother is an artist and watercolor is one of her primary mediums. I’m used to her work which is a lot more fine in technique though!
