Over the weekend we celebrated Ida’s second birthday with a few of her favorite things…family, friends, park hangs, yummy food and her very favoritest color of all time: purple!
We got to our favorite chill-spot in Griffith park really early to reserve the good shady brunch location, threw around some poufs and pillows for folks to lounge around on…
..covered a couple of fold-out tables in shibori-dyed purple drop cloths and covered the fence in some cheap-o striped fabric and a $10 piñata. Instead of being crazy and trying to do everything myself, I worked with Urban Palate to create a park and purple friendly brunch menu that was seriously bomb and everyone (especially Ida) really loved. Urban Palate also made it so that I could actually enjoy the party too and not have to be worried about replenishing food and stuff which can be stressful. CLICK FOR>>
There were fruit skewers with honey and mint–that everyone…kids and adults devoured…
all different kinds of crostate and veggies in a full ROYGBV spectrum…
and some very serious desserts.
It was a feast for the eyes and the tummies. Next, the youngest and the oldest among us played piñata:
we chatted, we chilled and we all were very purple-y.
and then there was the purple cauliflower hummus…I know.
and the most incredible array of purple flowers put together by my talented homegirl Kelly Cuadra:
and of course, a teeny tiny little purple cake made by The Scootabaker–and I put honey bees on it, because Ida is obsessed with all thing Pooh Bear right now and Pooh bear “a like a honey.”
Ida was so stimulated by everything that was going on that I think her eyes started to glaze over at a certain point and she was just in a purple haze!
But overall her purple birthday was so fun and so memorable and we truly had a blast at her little shindig ! I wonder what color her birthday will be next year??!
Thanks to all who came through and to all who helped to make this purple part-ay so much fun, and thanks to all who picked up my camera throughout the morning and helped to capture the day in suhch a lovely way (especially Jennifer and Bob!)
