There is a lot to love at Calypso right now. I kinda want everything, from the maison side and also the fashion side. Calypso has the boho-glam thing pretty much on lock so when they asked me to pick a few of my favorite gifts from their selections to feature here on the blog I was kinda at a loss. There are so many good, bohotastic options and pieces that are really luxurious at affordable price-points, which makes gifting really beautiful stuff to girl friends and work friends a possibility.
My first pick was this set of Moroccan tea glasses. I picture gifting these glasses together with a mint plant. The gold makes the gift feel really festive and they add something seriously special to the glass cupboard.
My next pick was this trio of Tom Dixon candles. I’ve been lusting after these guys for a long time. You could either give all three to a BFF or you could also gift three friends one candle and it still feels totally special and luxe. And by the way, they smell AMAZING.
And then there is this Christian Lacroix notebook. It certainly looks and feels luxurious but it comes in at a super affordable $28. It’s the perfect piece to gift to a friend who is trying to get her ideas on paper and her dreams into reality.
Lastly, Calypso mentioned I should pick out a little something for myself (thanks guys!) and I hooked myself up with this black Moroccan wedding blanket. It sparkles and is quite soft. I’m pretty smitten with these blankets and I haven’t seen the black ones anywhere else. It instantly transforms sofas and beds into a boho-glam situation I’m totally into.

Sadly, I went to the calypso site and discovered that the “moroccan wedding blanket” was in fact made in India… It really irritates me when a brand COMPLETELY imitates the traditional handicrafts of a specific country or comunity only to make the products in another country (for economic reasons obviously). Moroccan wedding blankets are valuable cultural, social and economic assets for the comunities who make them. These imitations are made without any authorisation nor compensation. Also, they may undermine sales of the genuine products and even their quality reputation.
Anyway, that’s something I wanted to share with you Justina because I know you are sensitive to this kind of subjects!
