I recently got this email from a reader:
I hope my e-mail is not lost in your inbox because I wanted to send a massive thank you for offering your colorful and bold point of view with your readers everyday! With the New Year, I have been inspired by your chic bohemian vibes to re-decorate my room and turn it into a place where a young female adult such as myself can sit and feel inspired by my surroundings (much like you have done with your new studio!). I thought the first step would be to find bedding and go from there. After hours of searching I came across this quilt I linked below, I think it would have your stamp of approval! The problem is I am not too sure where to go next, my room is rather small and I am afraid of turning it into a clustered mess instead of an area of creativity. Do you have any advice as to what decorations or pieces furniture I should try to find? Or perhaps any colors I should focus on? Any guidance from you would mean the absolute world to me. I thank you in advance for your time and I look forward to your response.
I loved the affordable quilt that the reader inquired after and was inspired to create a room around it for her. I chose a rich palette of royal blue and marigold from the quilt, but then added gold and bordeaux add the touch of sophistication it sounded to me like the reader is after. Knowing the space was small I also included so multi functional / space saving pieces like the Book Case / Desk piece that gets attached to the wall. And I love the way the watercolor from Kiana Mosley Studio Art balances out the other colors and ties the whole palette together.
All the pieces here are all pretty affordable too–keeping in mind the average income of young adults.

Thanks for posting this Justina! It can be really hard to work around having such a small space (and small budget)! But I love your suggestions and I’ll definitely keep them in mind.
