Last week, I had a chance to restyle the Calypso Maison store in SoHo and transform the space into a romantic-bohemian jungalow before our book release party that was held there. (If you missed part one of the post, you can find it here.) I love working with existing items. It’s similar to what I did for the book–going into a home (or retail space) and using what’s already there, rearranging and restyling the space to make it feel completely new. So much so, that while we were working on the Calypso space, several clients who came in to shop thought that the store had received all new inventory. Just another testament to what some rearranging and a few plants can do! So without further ado, here is the after…
It’s amazing what the plats did, right?
In this corner, we didn’t do too much, but what we did do had drastic effect. We swapped out the bench. I’m not into the the fur so we lost that too.
And BOOM. We brought in some mammoth cherry blossoms that we placed inside an upside-down stool (smart, huh?) We added some hanging ivy, changed out the back dining chairs for something a little less serious, and restyled the tabletop to create a mix of height and materials.
I really wish we had a ‘before’ shot of this area, but somehow as we were styling up a storm we forgot to snap ‘before’ shots of all the angles. You’d think after blogging for eight years I’d remember to do these things. Oy. But anyway, the table and amazing water print were already there, and we added the rug and the pouf to provide some color contrasts and visual interest. Then we added the fiddle leaf fig and the elephant ear leaves, and styled the table with a collection of items all with gemstones. I think the outcome is really fun and playful, but also eclectic and glam.
Here we created a little reading nook. How great is the Butterfly print? I’m obsessed. And now I want a palm tree in my living room, of course. To find all the items used to style these vignettes, head on over to Calypso St. Barth.

Your a great restyler, the before space looks just like everything was dumped into the space but after your renovation even be it just rearrangement of items and adding of plants and making good use of that sun window space, looks very visually appealing.
