Ever wondered how to propagate succulents? It’s super easy to do from cuttings, succulent leaves or my favorite way is from the little baby offshoots that grow from the larger plant. All you need to do is pull the baby out of the soil or off of the plant depending on where it’s growing. You can do this outside around your neighborhood…this type of foraging shouldn’t bother anyone, but if you’re worried, you could always do it after dark ;)
Once you have your collection ready to go, here’s what you need to do:
1) Let your cuttings, leaves and/or offshoots air out for the ends to dry for a few days.
2)Add some succulent/cacti (well draining) soil to a mini terracotta pot.
3) Poke a hole in the soil with your finger.
4) Pop your succulent in.
5)Place them in a sunny spot in your home. *You can see I even used a ceramic tea strainer as a planter for one; it’s a great shape and has perfect holes for drainage.
6)Be careful not to overwater, especially in these early stages. Give them a good soak once a week.
7)You win some, you lose some, but succulents are hearty plants and you should have success with seeing your little guys flourish and even sprout new babies.
They make the perfect gift, especially if you personalise the pot like I did with this one; paint it in blackboard paint and give it away with a piece of chalk. Fun!

So I’m propagating some leaves that I plucked off a plant when I made a terrarium. Do I just have to wait for the roots to turn into babies and for the babies to grow enough that I can then plant? I guess my question is: do I eventually cut the new growth off the leaf or does the leaf die or do I have to just leave it alone and let it do it’s thing and not touch it and it will just plant and get big and THEN I can regrow it.
