Hello Hello Hello! Unless you’ve just discovered by blog like 20 seconds ago, you know that I have a book coming out next week! The New Bohemians is my first decorating book and, after TWO YEARS of working on this thing, I wanted to kick it off with a real big BANG! One Kings Lane and I are co-hosting the book launch party here in LA on April 14th–the day the book comes out. Since I wanted it to be a swanky to-do, we’re having it at a beautiful old hotel and it will be catered by Urban Palate. But, the flip side to ye-old swankiness is that in order to fit everything into ye old budget, we have a seriously limited headcount that we have to adhere to. Figuring all this out gave my mini panic attacks akin to those had during wedding prep. And then a few people on IG suggested doing a giveaway so that more folks come and celebrate with us and I thought it was a great idea and good way to include more people. So here’s the deal. Two people will win 2 invites to the fiesta and a signed copy of the book. Yay.
I’ll get to giveaway details shortly but I’d also like to inform you that we have several other events scheduled that are open to the public where we can all party together and take selfies and spill champagne all over the books and stuff. And hopefully we’ll be adding more events, book signings and parties to the roster as well. But for now, here’s what’s happening:
Yeah! Popup: Book Signing and Face The Foliage Workshop
I will be at the Hudson Loft in Downtown Los Angeles on Saturday April 18th from 11am-2pm. I’ll be signing books, talking too much about design, art and creativity and sharing some #FaceTheFoliage fun. The event is free but you have to RSVP. (Also check the roster because there’s a lot of cool stuff happening over there…)
NYC Book Launch at Calypso St. Barth
The NYC launch of the book will be on April 22nd from 6PM-8PM at the Calypso Maison Boutique at 407 Broome St. Really excited to see you there, NYC!
Crafting Community, Palm Springs
May 1st-3rd I’ll be in Palm Springs at the Ace Hotel with my family and Crafting Community! I will be partying, hosting a couple of workshops and signed copies of the book will be on sale at the popup.
LEGENDS Celebrates Design Authors:
Friday, May 8, 4-5:30 pm, I’ll be at Mecox, 919 N. La Cienega Blvd. Here are the details for that event: Design icon Charlotte Moss from New York joins L.A.-based art critic journalist and publisher Anthony Iannacci, author of Design in the Hamptons, and designer Justina Blakeney, who recently authored The New Bohemians: Cool and Collected Homes, at a group book signing at Mecox.
GIVEAWAY RULES: OK now back to the giveaway. Here’s what to do. Pick your favorite piece (besides the book, duh!) from my sale on One Kings Lane. Come back here and leave a comment saying which item you fancy. For extra entries, share #TheNewBohoBook on social and leave the link to the post in the comments. That’s it. This will be a quick giveaway since the party is just around the corner. We’ll choose a winner on 4/9 at 9AM PST.
*Sorry, this giveaway is really just for L.A. locals because travel and accommodation isn’t included here. Two winners will be contacted by email once comments close on 4/9 and announced at the bottom of this post.
AGH!!! HUGEMONGOUS CONGRATULATIONS!!! That is one party I wish I could be at this year- have funnnnn! I cannot wait to get my hands on the book xoxo
Wish you could be here too!! Big hugs to you, friend!
Went to Barnes and Noble yesterday and they said that the book was back ordered. It’s a hit!!! Everyone wants one, including ME!!!! Love the Vera nesting tables at One Kings Lane, you picked. So hard to pick one piece. They are all gorgeous! Congratulations Justina! x-o, Mona
Congratulations Justina, you rock!! You deserve all the success on the world!
And gosh, how I wish I lived in LA!! Hopefully I’ll have that book in my hands sometime soon. Besos y abrazos!
Hooray!! Can’t wait to get my copy in the mail. Perhaps you should set up something here in San Diego? The store Pigment often has book-and-snack events. If you do I’ll be first in line!
Congrats on getting your book published! I’d love to be considered for the giveaway. From the collection you linked, my current fave is the Birger 87″ Sofa. It looks super comfortable and all I want to do now is lay down and nap haha. My email address is freshman.kay[at]gmail[dot]com if you need to contact me. Congrats again!
So exciting and what a collection of items! Of course the book is going to be a favorite but I’m really loving the Piano Ridge abstract. The light landscape hues would be perfect in our place…
So happy for you!!!
I so would love the mexican peacock figuerine for our work studio and for sis and I to celebrate w you. We love you! Felicidades!!!
I would love the Lolita Bar Cart! I’m a huge fan and big congratulations on your book! I can’t wait to read it!
I did actually just discover your blog! Just wanted to let you know I love it! Such a lovely and refreshing read :)

I had to choose just one :( I would love to go!
Can’t WAIT for the book! And your sale is amazing. If I were forced to pick just one thing, I’d say the 1960s Yellow Floral Glass Tumblers. They’re old and modern at one time.
I want pretty much everything on your OKL list, but the roll of batik fabric might just top my list! Shared the book on Facebook, it will be the first coffee table I’ve bought in several years! https://www.facebook.com/karissa.mt/posts/10155568903560438
Ok, seriously?! The fact that I have to only choose 1 item that I love from your OKL list is cray cray (’cause I need it all) but I can’t stop getting all googley-eyed over the Dakar rug! It would go with just about anything!
Of course, I’d love to win this giveaway, so I posted to Insta (http://ink361.com/app/users/ig-51085300/fyi_im_fly/photos/ig-958213732633457956_51085300), Facebook + Twitter.
Win or lose, I’m so glad I’ve discovered your blog. I can’t tell you how happy it makes me that someone has such a love for all things boho, design, patternful + colorful ;) Keep doin’ your thang Justina!
hi there Justina… I love you blog… I love your style and you have given so many amazing tips that I’ve been able to use… I was wondering if you could help me with a delimna that I have… I live in a rental house… And most of the downstairs main rooms are carpeted also two of the rooms have sort of hideous wallpaper borders that run along the top of the room… My question is… How do I make this my own… We like the house for the most part because it’s affordable, has a pool and is in a great school district for our kids… But I just haven’t felt like I have really put my stamp on it… I mean there has to be a way to make rentals look personal too right?
I love area rugs and ethnic throw pillows and all sorts of fun wall hangings but the house is sort of a country style… Any tips that you can suggest… Thank you so much in advance

I have never entered a contest like this, but I’d be so thrilled to go to your book launch! I’m completely obsessed with your aesthetic, brand, blog, funkiness, fearlessness…. (a pastel pink armoire? with the drawer turned into a planter?! Genius. I could marvel at photos of your new studio space for hours.)
Oh and, my favorite item is the Post Rug – it’s the perfect piece to balance a pattern/color heavy room.
Sincerely,
Alex (another young designer in LA)
So excited for the book! I love the sunburst mirror and the teak bowl.
CONGRATULATIONS on your book! Can’t wait to get my hands on a copy! I always think of you when I come across beautiful bohemian furnishings/decor and think WWJD (what would Justina do). Tee hee!
I want everything from your selection on OKL But the “Beth Hoeckel, Foliage” print tops my list. My bare tiny apt walls need some Justina-approved artwork!
I love love love all the moroccan pillows if I have to choose only one item!! Otherwise, I would want one of everything!!!
I just found your website too, and I love it! Your bohemian is so elegant, bright and uplifting. I will be back and thank you!
I mean- who doesn’t need those Francesca Armchairs in their life. so amazing.
Gah! Pick one? Soooooo hard. :) My top pick would be the Exquisite Abstract art because art always wins.
Also major congrats on your book! Really looking forward to getting a copy soon!
The espresso set is lovely, I like it most. But I’m out of the contest, I’m not in/from the area. But wanted to express my opinion on the product.
LOVE LOVE LOVE the “Jali Bench”!
I must have the Otomi Pillows.
No, I mean the Mexican Brass Beetle. Or the Otomi Pillows.
That Brass Beetle would look SO good on my table, though.
But I love Otomi.
How do I live without a Brass Beetle?
I fancy the Rhonda Flat Weave Rug in Blue!
I totally want to nerd-out and say your book is my favorite item, because I just know I’m going to love it!! Congratulations on it’s release! Truly though, if I had to pick just one, there’s something about that beautifully flawed teak bowl that speaks to me. It’s just feels special :)
Congratulations on such an amazing accomplishment! I’m still getting tje book even if I don’t win! :)
So?
