We celebrated the release of The New Bohemians last week at one of my favorite L.A. locals, Hotel Figueroa. After all the hard work we put in on this book — we wanted the release party to feel very special and intimate so we enlisted the help of One Kings Lane and Urban Palate to help all my boho bash dreams come true…
The location was absolutely perfect. The hotel’s Moroccan vibe and the bougainvillea set the tone perfectly…
My dearest Dabito (who photgraphed the book) flew in from New Orleans and got all dapper for the occasion.
Urban Palate served up some serious finger foods — this is grilled shrimp, bucheron, pea shoots, grapefruit on ciabatta. I know.
Team Jungalow’s Danae looking all pretty. Not sure who is happier to see who here!
Here we have mango crab salad, toasted coconut, cilantro chutney on papadum. So bomb.
And one of my favorite neighborhood book stores, Skylight Books was set up shop at the hotel for the occasion. I felt to honored!
How amazing is this setting??
(and yes I’m wearing a necklace on my head!)
Lot’s of blogging buddies stopped by to say hello.
And quite a few families and friends whose homes are in the book came out as well, like these two beauties: Emily and Kirby from Sword and Fern. Their home is in the Earthy Bohemian chapter of the book.
Little Ruby and my homegirl Joy came out looking as patternful as ever!
And if the pattern on my dress looks familiar, you’ve got a good eye! It’s one of my #PatternsByJustina. The dress was made by Eva Franco and will be a part of the limited edition collection we are creating together. (more on that soon!)
My brother and his amazing wife Emily came in their jungalow finest.
And even the newest addition to the extended Jungalow family, baby Mila, came out celebrate. Her beautiful mama, Natalie was the project manager on the book.
And speaking of beautiful mamas…there’s mine^.
Lots of smiles…I wonder what Joy and my Mother-in-law are laughing about here?!?
And I love this shot of Dabito and my dad and me!
All in all, good people, good food, good music (thanks Jason!) a beautiful setting–everything I had hoped for. After the sun went down, our photographer left but the whole thing turned into a hiphop dance party that involved a little too much wine and lots of new boho grinding. haha!! It was a blast.
With love and thanks to Hotel Figueroa, Urban Palate, One Kings Lane, Eva Franco, Danae Horst, to Amanda Vanvels for the breathtaking photography and to all the friends and family who came out to celebrate. My heart is full!

We were so touched to have been a part of such a celebratory evening.
The book, location, music, people were all perfect.
Thanks so much to you and Danae.
Congrats on your beautiful creation.

Geoffrey and Paige, you guys killed it and per usual. Everything was ABSOLUTELY perfect and your down-to-earth vibe, and the love that you put into the food is omnipresent. Bog love for you! <3

So I’m on a super strict budget at the moment so I kept not buying your book. But then I had a small windfall and went for it last week, and I am so glad I bought it– it’s even better than a new pair of sunglasses or straw basket.
I love it. My weird little ten year old daughter loves it and keeps trying to decide what type of boho different spots of our house are. It’s great. Good work!
Justina Blakeney says
Oh my gosh. That’s the cutest thing ever. I love that your daughter ‘gets’ that one house doesn’t have to fit one style and that you can be lots of different styles rolled into one!

I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it once more: you deserve all of this SO much! The success, the smiles, the hugs and all the boho-jungalicious goodness in the world. I can see that you are a beautiful person. Thank you for always inspiring me! Besos y abrazos!
Jennifer Steger says
I adore The New Bohemians cool and collected homes! It is effervescent! It is a celebration and a joy! I love the photography and the profiles of fellow bohemians. One of my favorite parts is the little ‘On Bohemianism’ paragraph. I like knowing these perspectives. I am a haufrau poet so I qualify as a bohemian. These homes gave me a chance to dream bigger and add. Thank you for your wonderful book. I treasure it.
Justina Blakeney says
that is so, so nice to hear. THANK YOU for sharing. I absolutely LOVE hearing what people are liking about the book <3

Justina what a beautiful night it was!! Every person that I met there was so lovely and so happy for you. And that dance party was nuts! I still can’t believe Kathrin had Ginuwine and No Diggity on her phone.
