It’s been about fifteen years since I took my last school finals, but somehow that school schedule still runs my world. The summer is full of leisure and by the time mid to late August rolls around I want to get everything in order and super tight for the start of fall. When Target asked me to share some home organization tips I thought I’d take the opportunity to decorate the ‘office’ in my new home (which is really just a corner of the dining room).
If I had any shame at all I’d be too embarrassed to show you how I’ve been working for the past couple of months, but alas, I’m pretty shameless so here goes:
Yeah. Not too inspiring, and definitely not boho. Highly un-design-blogger like. I mean it’s the worst. But here’s the thing, we’re still pretty house poor so I am not trying to buy any big ticket items right now, so this post provided a good excuse to put together the space without spending too much cashola.
So one morning we made a trip to Target and grabbed a few things to help organize all of the home office stuff. That combined with repurposing stuff we already had…and later that afternoon my home office looked like this:
Ahhh, that’s better. So here’s what we did. We created an actual desk from two sawhorse legs that we already had and a piece of plywood (adios for now fold-out table). We covered the (unsightly) table-top in a small rug and used a clear plastic desk pad to create a working computer area. We also used a tray to cull all my drawing and painting stuff into one area. It helps keep the desk clear of clutter.
A cute canvas basket nearby helps keeps this multi-functional space functional. It’s a catchall for stuff that doesn’t belong in the area to help keep the small space focused. I don’t know about at your house, but at my house it’s amazing how quickly a neat space all of the sudden has gym shoes, socks, magazines, and toys all over the place. The basket makes it easy to collect everything all at once and put it away later.
We also hung a desk organizer on the wall. Hanging it frees up precious desk space. We added “S” hooks to hang supplies from. The back slot is for files that I’ll need frequent access to.
A bar cart becomes a place to keep books, files and other supplies. The stuff that’s not too cute gets put in boxes and baskets.
A roll of craft paper gets hung to the wall as a makeshift message board. Magazine clippings make the space more inspiring. And a little rug on the floor helps to keep things cozy.
Ahhh. Now I can start school, errr I mean September feeling like I have an organized, inspiring space to work in–one that I didn’t have to spend a fortune on or even more that a single afternoon putting together. :)

Whoa. I’m inspired. I don’t work much at home anymore, so I neglect the “office corner”. The rolling cart with baskets and boxes; the hanging desk file! The collection basket! Genius. I. was at target yesterday, BTW. Awesome collection of back packs for back to schoolers, er, September, for folks of all ages and developmental stages.

I am dying to know where the tall terra-cotta woman holding a bird is from. I’ve seen her in photos of your studio before. What country is she from? Where did you get it? Anything you can tell me, I would appreciate. THANK YOU!
And I need to get my funky office set up correctly. Thanks for the inspiration!

Hi Angella! I found her at the Rose Bowl flea. Isn’t she great? I think that she is from Mexico, but that’s just a guess–she has no stamp or signatire or anything like that.

I love the use of the bar cart! So clever and functional. With my own home office I have trouble keeping a clutter-free desk top, love the use of vertical space. So inspired!

I also follow the school calendar, even though I am now a student. I often remember my school days and how much I had to do at home, especially the essays I hated. Now, being a student, it is much easier because I found this source https://papersowl.com/examples/romeo-and-juliet/ from where I can take examples for my essays, like Romeo and Juliet, it is a romantic work which for me is very hard, but through this source, I can easily write anything I want.

Each person will be grateful to teachers for the rest of his life. Since it was they who taught us and gave us knowledge. But despite this, I still found coursework help in college, I used https://writix.com/coursework-help for this. It was just hard and I needed help. In general, I can write everything myself, the main thing is not to be lazy.
