It occurred to me recently that Ida is already developing her own sense of style. She has opinions about what she likes to wear, she puts a premium on comfort, and has her own clear ideas about color and silhouettes. I can’t ever seem to get her in jeans and she’d wear yoga pants to a wedding if she could. She has ideas about home decor too. Now that we’re starting to decorate her new room at the Jungalow By The River, she tells me what she likes and wants. Her latest request? Beaded curtains on her door. I can totally get behind that.
So I thought today I’d do a little post rounding up some of my favorite latest discoveries for tiny bohemians–all Ida approved, of course.
Ruffle Jumpsuit | Kate Quinn
Ida loves her Kate Quinn dresses–she feels fancy in them without being uncomfortable.
Moon in your Room
Ida points out the moon at all hours of the day, and when my sister-in-law gifted her this moon lamp this year she was totally obsessed. Now ‘turning on her moon’ has become part of our bedtime ritual.
Vintage Fuzzy Moroccan Rug | Coco Carpets
Ida loves fuzzy rugs. I’d love to get her a big one like this Berber beauty–it’s big enough that it would cover her entire room, and she’d have fun with the bright geometric shapes and colors.
Door Beads
The hotel that we stayed at in Italy had door beads leading into the breakfast room. Ida played with them non-stop and told me that she’d like some for her room.
Moccasins|Oh Joy for Freshly Picked
“Ruby’s mom” gave Ida a pair of her new moccasins for Freshly Picked and Ida puts them on for impromptu dance parties at the house. They’re basically her jazz shoes, and every tiny bohemian needs moccasins for dance parties.
Whose Tools?
Whose Tools by Toni Buzzeo and Jim Datz is one of Ida’s go-to reads at the moment, and it’s one of those books that she occupies herself with for about 15 minutes–which is like, enough time for me to take a shower! The book highlights different tools and the professionals who use them–plumbers and electricians, carpenters and masons. There are many women represented in the book and since we’ve been working on the house and lots of these folks have been coming through, she loves that she knows their tools names and what they’re working on.
Elephant Carrying a House Poster
Two of her favorite things, elephants and the color purple–this poster be the perfect addition to her tiny boho den.
*Ida’s dress c/o Kate Quinn, her mini turban/twist scarf is from American Apparel.

Ida is adorable! She already has a sense of style. I’m making my Granddaughter a boho outfit; peasant top with long pants and 3-tiered ruffle at the bottom. The fabrics I chose are very bohemian and I can’t wait to see her in it. Did you make Ida’s outfit?
Justina Blakeney says
Oh I wish I made the outfit! So sweet that you sew for your granddaughter!

A you’re adorable, B you’re so beautiful, C you’re a cutie full of charm!
I think this song was made for Ida. Tiny perfection.
