As the colder months approach, cravings for the outdoors only grows. But turn your home into an indoor oasis, and you can enjoy a jungalicious retreat all year long! Use these simple tips, ideas and fun Fab pieces to turn your living room from mild to wild.
1.) Create Lush walls.
Do this by painting your walls a pretty, deep green or by hanging a jungalicious wall mural, like this Into The Wild Wall Mural. I hung the mural in our den and instantaneously the room felt wild, tropical and really, really fresh.
2. ) Make Verdant Floors.
Pick a plush, cozy rug to place underfoot. This will up your cozy factor but it will also add a good foundation to the room and create warmth, both visually and actually. I chose this Isabella rug for its vibrant and saturated colors, and because it’s easy to clean.
3.) Add Patternful accessories.
My favorite way to do this is through textiles. I draped a soft kantha quilt over my plain sofa and then covered the sofa in a mix of vibrant throw pillows. I picked these xNasozi pillows because I love the way the graphic, Nigerian fabrics contrast to the organic shapes in the wall mural. Then I added pillows with gold details to bring in a little bit of sun-shiney bling–always a must for any indoor oasis.
4.) Include Plantastic pieces
…and it doesn’t get much more plantastic than this cactus vase or this leaf-adorned planter from Jen e ceramics. What do I mean by plantastic pieces you ask? Well, anything that looks or feels like a plant that’s not a plant. That’s plantastic.
5.) Don’t forget about the plants!
And then, of course, don’t forget to add the real plants. Es muy importante, not just for the look but the feel. Plants make people happy. Bring them into the mix with hanging planters, like this brass one. Try putting a spiller in it. A spiller is a plant that spills over the edge of the planter like this fishhook succulent. Other examples of spillers are pothos or heart-leaf philodendrons. Also, plants can be added in the form of statement leaves in vases, or air plants!
Once you’ve pulled the whole look together, you’ll feel like you’re on vacation all winter long. Just make yourself a Mai Tai, put on some Bossa Nova and you’re good. Now here’s how to get the look. Your indoor oasis is just a few clicks away ;)

I could never use that many patterns in my house, my husband would hate it! I think it looks great though. Love all of greens!

how hard was it to hang that mural?

Great question! It came in four pieces and the material that it comes on is similar to photo paper. It goes on with wallpaper paste (as per the instructions) but I used tacks. It was somewhat difficult to line up the four pieces perfectly, but I was working alone. I think with two people it would be simple. Another option would be to hire a wallpaper installed who would likely get it done very quickly. It makes a HUGE impact in the room– definitely a bang for buck kinda situation.

Drooling over every thing in this post! I could use that kind of room in Chicago when we get snowmageddon. And I could just order it all online from Fab. Now, if I could only keep one plant alive!

All the close-ups and not a single overview picture — sooo frustrating!

I’m actually standing at the very edge of the very small room — the widest shot is, actually the widest shot I could get without using a fisheye lens ;)
