I’ve always loved a good armoire. They feel a little bit romantic, a little bit French and besides that, in a home with few closets, they can provide some much-needed storage.
The above armoires have been pinned to my Pinterest boards for a long, long time and I figured it was finally time to bring the look into my Jungalow. Of course, my version would be a little less shabby chic and a little more jungalish, but we’ll get to that part in a bit…
We’ve had this armoire for years. It was a hand-me-down from Jason’s mother who found it at a little second-hand shop in Pasadena a couple of decades ago. In our old house, we used it in our living room as a T.V. cabinet, but since we moved to The Jungalow by The River, it’s been in the garage, waiting for a little love. At first I wasn’t sure what color to paint it. You know I love bright colors and in the past have painted cabinets pink and blue, but this time, knowing that I was going to put my new wallpaper on the wall behind it, I decided to go white, to create contrast.
To avoid dirty finger-prints from a very cute three year old, we decided to paint it with n extra high-gloss paint–It’s so glossy that you can wipe it down with a damp rag, no problem. We also wanted it to be a very white white, not too hot or too cold. We went with White on White by Glidden. We took the whole armoire apart, removed the hardware, and painted it piece by piece with two coats. The paint goes on so thick that there was no need to sand the armoire down before painting. Once the paint had dried, a glass-worker cut new mirrors for the doors and glued them on for us. We then put the whole thing back together and…
finally had the Pinterest-worthy armoire of my jungalow dreams. For the styling, I took a cue from this blog post where I talk about the three P’s of boho-chic cabinet/cupboard styling.
To get the look:
Vintage Armoire + White on White by Glidden + Cosmic Desert Wallpaper + Fishhook Succulent + Pompom Basket + African stool + Vintage rug (dress from Ace & Jig, Boots from Teysha.is).
This post was created in partnership with Glidden® paint. All thoughts, opinions and paintbrushes are my own. To see other projects I’ve worked on with Glidden and to get more jungalicious paint inspirations, check out the My Colortopia blog.

I really love the pop of natural wood inside and adding mirror panels back on was a stroke of genius! I always struggle with placement of a full length mirror in my bedroom but this is a great solution. I need to remember these things when vintage furniture shopping. What a difference!
