DIY: Little Nicki’s simple knotted plant hanger

Because plants and macramé go together in your Jungalow like peas and carrots, I decided to make a super simple woven plant hanger.  If you have a bit of rope (or jute, twine, leather…) and you know how to make knots, you can make this in about 5 minutes flat.

1) Cut 4 equal lengths of your rope – go quite long, so you have lots to work with; mine were around 50 inches each.

2) Line them up equally and fold them in half.  In the middle where they are folded, you can do a knot that leaves a loop for hanging.  *I did this the lazy way with an elastic, because I found my rope a bit thick for knotting all 8 pieces.

 

3) Start with your first two adjacent strands and knot them together about a quarter of a way down.

4) Repeat the same with the next 3 sections of adjacent strands.

 

5) Once you have your 4 knots, start your next row another quarter of the way down, but this time with the adjacent strands of the above knots.

6) Repeat until all four pairs are knotted again.

7) Take the last of the hangings ends and tie them all together into one large knot to finish.  *Trim the ends if they are not hanging symmetrically.

8) Hang a pretty plant in your new macramé hanger and place it somewhere special at home.
