Over the weekend my closets were installed and I used vintage decorative hardware for the drawer pulls and cabinet handles. I was kind of astonished at how the hardware transformed the entire look of the closet. The small space immediately went from kinda boring to kinda spectacular. And while I remember from our kitchen remodel what a big deal it was to choose the cabinet hardware, ultimately in our kitchen went with something understated. I thought the closet would be a good moment to go BIG. I found these vintage Saturn-style bakelite drawer pulls and knew they had to be mine.
While searching for the perfect nobs late-night in bed, these were some of the other pieces that I was considering:
I love that decorative hardware is such an easy way to give personality to a boring surface. I use search terms on Etsy and eBay like “Bakelite hardware” and “Art deco Hardware.” I ended up winning the Saturn pulls in an auction for $44.50 (for a total of six nobs). Not a bad price for vintage bakelite. You can shop the above finds right here:

I haven’t seen anything like them. They will surely elevate the look of any thing they are installed upon. There are a lot more variety of such hardware here at http://www.estatecabinetry.com/html/ec_gallery_hardware.html to select from.
