This post was created in partnership with World Market.
When World Market asks you to decorate a Santa Monica beach-front, Spanish-Style backyard, you don’t say no. It’s the perfect opportunity to pretend that that beach-front property is yours and that you can wake up in the morning and walk out the back door and stick your toes in the sand.
Then, when I saw pictures of the property, with all that blue and green tile in the yard, I got really excited. Not that the *before* backyard is a stinker or anything — it’s pretty amazing as-is, but I knew it could be improved upon with a bit more color and warmth.
I based my design largely off complimenting the beautiful tiles, while also keeping in mind a Mediterranean feel.
This was our original floor plan, but when we got there to do the install, a few things changed (as things do) and we rotated the sofa/chair/table in the center pretty much every way possible before coming up with our final configuration.
We ended up putting two outdoor rugs together to cover more surface in the ‘focal point’ area in front of the fireplace.
And I loved the way the furniture set we chose felt both modern and Mediterranean style.
I was very impressed with the umbrellas. The bases are sleek and modern and I love the brass detailing on the pole. I will be getting a couple of these for The Jungalow for sure. I was also rather smitten with this outdoor chair set–some serious bang for buck on these modern fellas.
A pretty fun 1-day makeover, yes? I’m definitely getting excited to revamp our backyard at the Jungalow. I’m even eyeing these hedges as we think about (finally) getting rid of our chain-link fence.
