We’ve never been much for flat gallery walls- bring on the dimension please! From masks to textiles, and even jewelry, gallery walls are just more interesting and dynamic with multi-dimensional objects added to the mix. We especially dig using basket collections on the wall- they bring in so much texture, pattern, and even color, plus- you can actually see them when they’re on the wall, rather than stacked up on a shelf somewhere.
Dabito has been putting Tonga baskets, rounded up on his travels, to good use in his home. Don’t they look just stunning against his deep blue dining room walls? It’s really easy to hang your baskets on the wall- either put a nail directly through the basket (this works best for baskets with a tight weave), or loop a small length of wire through the basket, and twist the ends together to make a little hanger.
Even if you don’t have a huge collection of baskets, you can still add a few in with other art and objects! Keeping to a cohesive color palette, like we did in this home we worked on last year, will keep things looking collected, even with a mix of pattern and textures.
Ready to try your own basket gallery wall? We’ve rounded up some of our favorites in a new Etsy Treasury. Happy hanging!

Have done this at home recently and I love that we can look at the baskets all the time. The patterns and colours really can get admired alot. Live in Lusaka, Zambia, so have an endless access to baskets from all the regions in the country. Really a great way of decorating a wall!

Hey Jenny! I hope you don’t mind me contacting you but I was curious if I could somehow pay you to send me some baskets? I would LOVE to do this gallery wall on the wall of my dining room but I have been hunting eBay and thrift stores non stop looking for baskets and (although I have found a few that are cool) none are a cohesive color palette and I want mostly all of them in a similar color family! Could you potentially email me? I’m happy to send you money via paypal or whatever to buy them for me plus shipping! my email is [email protected] :)

Unusual design. I like it! Especially the contrast with the blue wall.

Any idea where the baskets with the heart design come from? I love them!

This is the first time I’ve seen such an option, and it seems really interesting to me. In order to diversify the walls in the living room, I chose bright posters here https://soposters.com/ . When hanging posters on the wall, do not forget about the rest of the interior of the room. Complement a catchy picture with an armchair, a rug, a vase or a lamp of the same color – together they will create the perfect tandem.
