Ok ok…so what’s cuter than a potted cactus in a windowsill? A potted cactus in a windowsill in an upcycled can wrapped in botanical wallpaper, that’s what. Then slap on a little label reminding you what kind of sunlight the plant needs and how much to water it? Well, then it’s downright jungalicious.
Here’s what you need. We used our new removable wallpaper tiles from Hygge & West in Aja and Nana for the wrap.
Materials:
- Removable wallpaper
- Printable plant labels
- Canned food
- Can Opener
- Printer
- Ruler
- Pen or Pencil
- Glue or Rubber Cement
- Scissors
- Cacti or/and Succulents
- Cactus soil
- Pebbles for bottom of can, or hammer and nail to punch holes
Steps:
- Empty the food out of the cans (or save them up), take the label off, and clean out the can
- If you’d like to have drainage, use a large nail to puncture the bottom of the can a few times.
- On the backside of your removable wallpaper, measure and mark out the dimensions of the can label
- Regular can: 10″ x 4 1/8″
- Large can: 13 1/8″ x 4 3/8
- Cut out your removable wallpaper
- Peel a corner of the wallpaper up and line it up on the can
- Slowly start peeling it back and aligning it to your can
- Print out your plant labels and cut them out
- Write the type of plant it is along with care instructions
- Circle the amount of sun it needs
- Glue or rubber cement each one to the outside of each can
- If you didn’t punch drainage holes in the bottom, place a small layer of pebbles at the bottom of the can for drainage.
- Fill up with soil to achieve desired height
- Carefully put your plant in the can and then surround it with soil

These are so easy to make and they would also make lovely gifts or tabletop decor / takeaways for your dinner guests. You could even use the rest of your wallpaper tiles as a table runner and then use the plants as a centerpiece!
Happy planting!
