Pad Peek: Katie’s Sunland–Tujunga Home

Being a first-time buyer can be stressful. However, for singer/songwriter Katie Zamprioli all of the anxiety subsided when she walked into Janelle Pietzrak’s 1953 home. She knew it was meant to be. Weeks later Katie, together with her husband Mirage, son Sebastian, and pup Mecca moved in and officially called Sunland–Tujunga home. 


Katie’s home decor is full of earth tones, geometric shapes, clean lines, and Southwestern decor. So when taking the spirit environment quiz, found in The New Bohemians Handbook, she wasn’t surprised with the desert with a hint of jungle result.

Be that as it may, as a mama to a precocious toddler, finding quiet time can be hard. However, Katie finds that the subtle warm decor accents bring in calming vibes reminiscent of family visits to Joshua Tree.  In contrast to the warmth, her 61 indoor plants add vibrant life to tabletops, shelves, and corners. The large White Bird of Paradise in her living room was gifted from close friends, so it not only is a lush focal point but a pleasant reminder of loved ones as well.

Back in the day, Katie and Mirage were in a band together. Mirage now spends his days as an audio engineer/producer. Restaurant life and mamahood fill up Katie’s days. However, in her spare time, she enjoys writing and reading in the living room while Sebastian draws. The living room is Katie’s favorite room due the gorgeous vaulted ceilings and abundance of light. Additionally, it’s where her favorite pieces are kept: the mid-century credenza, the marble coffee table and a pink Royal typewriter that she scored on eBay for their wedding.

We’re pretty partial to their lush kitchen breakfast nook though – look at all of those plants!
