Justina’s bohemian aesthetic emerged out of her multicultural upbringing in Berkeley, California. The convergence of cultures in her childhood home gave her an appreciation for mixing things up when it came to home décor. Her degree from UCLA in World Arts and Cultures, as well as extensive international travels also informed her aesthetic. It was this creative spirit and a love of sharing that compelled her to start a design blog when she returned to the US after living and designing in Italy for seven years. For Justina, decorating is about feeling free, having fun and getting a little bit wild. It is her belief that wealth is not the key to having an amazing home and an incredible lifestyle. The key is creativity.
Now Justina lives in her sweet jungalow with her husband, Jason, their daughter, Ida, and cat, Luda. She is currently working on her first solo book to be published by Abrams in 2015. Domino Magazine, Better Homes and Gardens and Marie Claire have all named Justina’s blog one of the best design blogs on the web. Dwell Magazine, Refinery29, and the Huffington Post all agree that Justina is one of the most inspirational people to follow on Pinterest. Her work has been featured on Elle Decor, Vogue, Apartment Therapy, House Beautiful, Anthology Magazine and many more. With partnerships with brands from One Kings Lane to Anthropologie and a social-media following of over 1,300,000 people, her global/bohemian style, approachable voice and novel ideas inspire millions to get free spirited with their home decor. Holla.
JUSTINA’S DESIGN PHILOSOPHY
I believe that good design increases quality of life. I believe in vintage, organic and handmade. I believe in the healing power of plants, good light and fresh air. I believe that objects carry the stories of their makers–so things that are made with love, care and good materials bring those qualities with them where-ever they go. I believe in recycling. I believe in diversity. I believe that design can save the world.
