Hola! I’m Justina Blakeney–a stylist, designer and blogging momma with a bohemian heart. On any given day I can be found styling photoshoots, decorating homes, making stuff, devising crazy creative campaigns and if you’re lucky, you may catch me dancing in the middle of the street singing at the top of my voice–’cause I’m wild like that. I graduated from UCLA with a degree in World Arts and Cultures and shortly after graduation packed up and moved to Italy. I stayed for seven years and ended up opening up a boutique there, making clothes and art and eating copious amounts of pasta, really good pasta, with wine and yes, gelato too. While there, I worked with my sister and we self-published a book that later on was picked up by Random House. The book turned into a series and that series has sold over 100,000 copies. Not too shabby. After moving back state-side I decided to turn my passion for design into a blog, and I began sharing daily design inspirations in 2008.
Now I live in my sweet jungalow with my husband, Jason, our daughter, Ida, and our cat, Luda. I am currently working on my first solo book to be published by Abrams in 2015. Dwell Magazine, Refinery29 and the Huffington Post all agree that I’m one of the most inspirational people to follow on Pinterest and my work has been featured on Elle decor, Apartment Therapy, House Beautiful, Anthology Magazine and many more. With partnerships with brands from One Kings Lane to Martha Stewart and a social-media following of over 1,250,000 people, my global/bohemian style, approachable voice and novel ideas inspire millions to get free spirited with their home decor. Holla.
MY DESIGN PHILOSOPHY
I believe that good design increases quality of life. I believe in vintage, organic and handmade. I believe in the healing power of plants, good light and fresh air. I believe that objects carry the stories of their makers–so things that are made with love, care and good materials bring those qualities with them where-ever they go. I believe in recycling. I believe in diversity. I believe that design can save the world.
