Keep it cool this summer with hot Tisane.
I know it is counter-intuitive, but the Chinese and many other cultures have been drinking hot tea to cool down in the hot summer months for centuries.  I have always loved tisane (fresh herbal tea) and the idea of using freshly-picked-from-the-garden-herbs which give these teas a light and refreshing zing.  You can use just about anything, I would love to use tarragon and lemongrass, or fresh rose petals and lime, the possibilities are endless.  There are several techniques you can use, here I have steeped in hot water and strained with a traditional tea strainer, a French press, and by using a cloth tea bag.  All of these are amazing served hot or chilled and over ice….. Sweeten to taste and keep a pitcher in your fridge to stay cool (and hot!) all summer long.

Thanks Caitlin!
  1. I’ve been drinking tea by the bucket load lately (it’s cold here), I’ll have to try some of those flavours.
