Do you have a green thumb? A garden, or space for a garden? Well if I do, you do!
I have never had much of a green thumb–but this year I am truly committed. I have a small ally-way behind the Jungalow where we all park our bikes– and my boyfriend and I have been growing a tiny garden there. Turns out, if you give the plants sun and water, they actually grow. Seems miraculous to me, but it’s true.
With plants and seeds from the famer’s market and reclaimed pots, boxes and containers, my boyfriend and I have been actually growing food for the past couple of months. OK- food might be a bit of an exaggeration, but spices for sure– and tea! Lots and Lots of mint tea.
It’s so fun, and so soothing, and such a good pause from my computer-filled days to go and water the plants and tend to the garden. We’ve got mint, tomatoes, strawberries, poblano peppers, chives, echinacea, beets, white kale, lambs lettuce, dill, Thai basil, and a few different types of leafy greens. I’m a proud plant momma. Aren’t my babies gorgeous?

Thanks so much! We have been putting a lot of love into it. We found the wooden boxes at the Rosebowl Flea Market in Pasadena, (I think that it’s one of the best in the world.) And it’s one of my favorite things to surprise passers by when they glance down the ally and see a POP of life and color! Thanks for stopping by the Just for Design blog Ann and Lushe!
