It’s taking a little while, but the Compai Studio space (that we call the Offish) is starting to come together. Here is the before and after of a pendant lamp made from a lamp shade that, yes, you guessed it! I found discarded on the sidewalk on my block.
The shade was unusually large, and I got the idea to cover it it with some stunning wallpaper I had found at a vintage shop on my trip up to Berkeley (my home town) a few weeks ago. I added some vintage pom-pom trim to the perimeter (because if you’ve been reading this blog for a while, you know I have a thing for pom poms), and rigged it to hang, as opposed to sit atop a table lamp.
I now have these 2 items with very bold patterns contrasting in other in the entry way, and so I’m going to keep the rest solid blocks of color, to give the ol’ eye balls a rest. I’m pretty proud of the entryway because 100% of the items (the couch, the side table, the lamp) were all salvaged from the street.
More Offish updates soon.
Be sure to check out the brand new flickr group we started called Salvaged from the Street. We will be adding all of our upcycled street finds here, and invite you to do the same! I hope that you all had a relaxing weekend! Keep your eyes out this coming weekend for good street finds, as the best pieces can always be found towards the end of the month.

Justina, I’d love to add my salvaged items to the group as well. Such a great idea!
Also, I love that entryway! I’ve been running a series on blogger entryways (real homes, yada, yada) and I was wondering if you would be up to participating? I’d be thrilled to host you!! Let me know…
