Now that our wedding has come and gone, Jason and I can turn our attentions to the Boom Boom Room. The Boom Boom Room (formally known as The Lady Cove) is the space that I currently use as my walk-in closet, but that we are working on transforming into a nursery for our l’il Boomba. If it sounds small, it’s because it is–but it also has three windows, high ceilings, and is right off our bedroom–and something about the space has great energy.
It *is* too small for that gorgeous velvet, amethyst-colored love seat, but I just couldn’t resist adding that to the inspiration board because of how cozy it looks. I can picture cuddling up with my little one and reading her stories on it.
I love that Jill Stuart dress and would like to use it as inspiration for the nursery–both the colors (as swatched above), and the shapes too–I love how it almost looks like clouds with golden sun rays pouring through. It would make a lovely wall mural, or quilt, too, huh?
I’m head over heels for that lion print by Lizzie Steward. It’s so perfect for my little Leo-baby to-be! The elephant hamper and giraffe lamp would also make perfect additions to this mini jungalow. Speaking of, I will also have plants in her room–I’m thinking Elephant Ear Philodendron (pictured above)–because they are in-theme and they do wonders for air-purification (since we don’t live far from freeways, I want to do all I can to make sure she breathes clean air). I also want to add lots of pillows and soft, textured items–like the sheepskin rug or the Kantha pouf–great things to learn to crawl around on.
Knowing me, the Boom Boom room will end up looking completely different from this inspiration board–also because I plan (read: hope) to get lots of hand-me-downs and I will also likely thrift and Craigslist most of the stuff for her room–but this is at least a jumping off place.
Now all I have to do is figure out where I’m going to put all of my clothes ;P

Hi Justina – beautiful inspiration board for your “boom boom” room! I too have a little leo. he’s 2 in July – goes so fast. he’s the most active toddler I, & everyone, know! he’s also beautifully affectionate & sweet ..& funny …etc…
if it’s any comfort that beautiful amethyst chair probably wouldn’t be the most comfortable nursing chair. I hope you don’t mind my advice ? I’m sure you’re inundated with it. if I had my time over I would have had a chair like Dwell Studio’s Sven dining chair – straight back, low arm rests, feet on the ground – probably sounds very boring and not cosy but I found it more difficult feeding in the beginning than I thought. turns out those mid wives knew what they were talking about! gets much easier to get cosy as they get bigger tho! best of luck with the remainder of your pregnancy. you look beautiful – glowing! Cheers, Kate x
p.s I can recommend the Stokke sleepi cot & change table (not sure if that’s your style tho) I bought mine on eBay about a third of retail :) they grow with your child – change table converts to a desk & cot to toddler bed to junior bed. cot is fantastic for a small space ..I love it. take care!

Hi Kate–I actually really appreciate the advice! As a first-time mom I feel like I;m in the dark a little bit so I really appreciate your thoughtful comment. I’m gonna check out the Sven Dining Chair. Hugs and Thanks to you!

oh I’m glad. and it is only my opinion – you might find the same thing completely wrong for you …but I think a supportive back that’s not too reclined is probably comfortable for most mums. the armchair I used was too deep & leather. I needed a pillow behind me that kept sliding-really annoying when you’re sleep deprived! those feeding pillows for bub to lie on are meant to be great!
take care xo
