I’ve got a new gig as a curator at Chairish (the buy/sell super site for pre-loved decor) — which means sifting through pages and pages and pages of incredible vintage furniture, objects, textiles and art..and selecting my favorites. It’s a tough job, but somebody’s got to do it :P. As I was clicking through last night, I noticed the name Adrian Pearsall appear again and again on my faves– first on that ridiculously dope yellow “Wave Rocker,” then on that pinky velvet button tufted yum yum, at which point I decided that it was a full-blown love affair and that I had to find out more about this dear Adrian–whose name I’d heard before, but I knew nothing about. So after poking around on these internets I discovered some cool stuff.
Adrian Pearsall was working as an architect when he decided to quit his day job and begin to make furniture. He founded Craft Associates in 1952 with his brother from his basement. They created modern pieces with space-age lines, bold color choices, dramatic silhouettes and affordable pricetags. Totally up my ally :) — And besides his furniture he had built the most insane 10,000 square foot ‘ranch’ in Pennsylvania–check this place out here.
I mean..so dreamy, yes? Anyway, I’m totally a new Adrian Pearsall fan. I think I’m decidedly late to the party, but better late than never, yes? To check out all my other Pearsall discoveries on Chairish (like this crazy good gondola sofa) go here.
