When I say keeping green, I am referring to both the green in my bank account as well as my hopes and plans to not torture mother earth on our wedding day. Some things that are helping me along this journey are: plates that are made from fallen Areca leaves (seriously!), upcycled jars for centerpieces, planted (living) floral arrangements and having a (mostly) vegetarian, local, in-season menu. (How pretty are those Ranunculus!?)
For those of you who are getting all romantic with your lovers tonight, I wish you a lot of hot, fun, silly, butterfly-filled moments. Being in love is f*cking rad, isn’t it?

Oh the planted mason jars are great! You can give them afterwards as party favors/memorabilia and give out seeds to plant as wedding favors that have some cute little saying on the package about sewing the seeds of love or something… ;)

I did a lot of similar things for my son’s bar mitzvah last year, including the plates. FYI they’re made of fallen (Areca) palm leaves, not Acacia (a whole other tree). But they are fabulous! And compostable, too!
Another great item if you’re looking for favors for your guests are Tree-in-a-Box tree planting kits. Small company in Portland, OR. Everything about it is green & they can customize a label for you.
Good luck!
