2012 was a HUGE year for me, both personally and professionally. To sum everything up in one blog post is difficult–but I’d like to try–it helps me to look forward to 2013 with excitement.
Some professional highlights of 2012 included: Two features of the Jungalow in print: in Anthology Magazine and Cottages and Bungalows Magazine. My Wedding was featured on Martha Stewart Weddings . I reached over 1,000,000 followers on Pinterest and Dwell Magazine named my ‘Pinteriors’ board one of the top 10 design boards. I partnered with some amazing brands including Etsy, One Kings Lane, Burke Decor and Chronicle Books. I also had the opportunity to work with some inspiring new clients: I styled a couple of homes for Anthology Magazine and decorated three apartments. Whew. I have to say I am really proud of myself for all that I accomplished this year, and I can pat myself on the back (and thank you all SO MUCH) for tripling my blog readership these past twelve months–this has allowed me to work from home and spend time with my budding familia–which leads me to my personal highlights of 2012–
High up on that list was joining families with the love of my life: a man who supports me in all of my wacky creative projects, while working on a few of his own–a man who makes me laugh, think, and smile. A man who makes me feel loved every minute of every day–and a man who has become the best father to Ida that I could ever ask for. Next up–my pregnancy–(what a trip) and giving birth to my daughter, Ida Sky, and–becoming a mom–and getting to know Ida and her delicious little personality! Holy moly–reducing that into one sentence is nuts but if I get into it–I’m afraid I won’t be able to contain the deluge of emotion that is to follow. While this year was so full of blessings, there were also no shortage of disasters: personal, social, political and environmental–from a very rough birth experience to Sandy Hook to my Grandmother falling ill and having a really difficult Autumn of surgeries and hospital stays—the loss of my Aunt Gladys and my Uncle Jimmy–and on and on. The world givith and the world taketh away…And I enter into 2013 with that on my mind–that every moment is precious–that every day is a blessing.
HAPPY NEW YEAR MY FRIENDS–and thank you for joining me on this journey!
