I love your blog – thanks. Here’s how my kids learned to sleep through the night. Spend weeks getting her to realize that their bed is a happy safe place, and that you will always be there if she needs you. Starting during the day, put Ida in her crib with a favorite item and just hang out. If she wants out, take her out. Crib shouldn’t be prison. Once she’s comfortable in the crib, make an excuse to leave the room and tell her you’ll be right back. Go back quickly – before she fusses. Soon, put her in when she’s sleepy. Make it cozy. Talk to her -she understands. “You can sleep a little here while Mom washes the dishes. Call me if you need me.” Tell her how cozy her crib is. Falling asleep is separating, and doing it in another room can be scary. Reassure her that you’re there. Play peekaboo to develop her sense of object permanence. It may take a couple of months, but she’ll grow into a good sleeper. Both my kids are.
