It’s not every day you get an email from the Tate (yes that Tate, the museum you don’t miss while visiting London) to co-curate a something (anything!) and in this case a Pinterest Board celebrating the life, work, and influence of Parisian artist, Sonia Delauney.
Delauney’s work has influenced me very much over the years and I love that she never boxed herself into one medium, her work spans from painting to include graphics, textiles, interiors, film, fashion, furniture and textiles. If you’ve followed along here for some time, you’ll likely understand why that multi-disciplinary spirit calls to me, as I tend to splash around in a lot of those same ponds.
Delauney was a major figure in the Parisian avante-garde, and had a thing for color and pattern. She was also the first living female artist to have a retrospective exhibition at the Louvre. Woot.
For more of the inspiring Delauney and to witness a celebration of pattern check out the Pinterest board I’m co-curating with the Tate, and if you’re in London, please check out the exhibit for me (and you!) It’s showing through August 9th.

Love the Tate! I did a study abroad in London and we went pretty frequently and sometimes even had to go for school assignments. What a compliment that they asked you to co-curate!

I saw this exhibition last week, it is beautiful. The oil paintings are so gorgeous and the clothes to die for. They have some great film of Sonia and friends in her studio prancing about in the fabrics. Ask the Tate to send you a catalogue, it’s a good one.
