Every year at this time I start craving yellow. Yellow just warms me up and makes me feel happy. It helps me get through stressful times (hola tax season). It helps me push through and remember that summer is just around the corner. Whether used in small doses to punch up a room with accents (like in the above abode belonging to Katherine and Brian Smirke featured in The New Bohemians) or like in the shipping container I designed a couple of years back with my sister for Dwell on Design. My late MIL had a darling bright yellow mid-century kitchen step-stool/chair that I always loved. When we were cleaning out the house to put it on the market…..no one wanted that stool! I couldn’t believe it. I instantly offered to take it….heh, heh. I’m so altruistic. It gets moved around the house to wherever I need a pop of color and usually holds a plant or a stack of books. My daughter already has plans for it when I am gone. I know it’s the color!
